Armenia: Never-Never Land - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Armenia
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Guja Mabellini, Arpa Hacopian
An unprecedented tribute to the creativity of Armenia through the pictorial story of 140 artists, women and men, maestros of colour and young emerging talents. A story that reflects and gives life to a cultural richness that has embraced the millenary traditions of a land that is both a cradle of civilization and a crossroads between East and West. Today Armenia is a small republic that is proud to demonstrate how it has prevailed over the most dramatic period of its history: the genocide of its people between 1915 and 1917 and the diaspora of a population. Implicit in these works is a conceptual dialogue with culture and tradition. Art that bonds memory, but also an irrepressible drive to the future and internationality. Art that endures in time and rewards poetic sensitivity, the subtle link between those who paint and those who observe.
Armenia: Never-Never Land. Contemporary Artists from Armenia is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12cm format.
