Contemporary Artists from Czech Republic
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection

Texts by Luciano Benetton, Liliana Malta, Lenka Lindaurova, Giovanni Sciola

An extraordinary collection that for the first time brings together 145 works which illustrate the journeys undertaken by Czech artists over 25 years after the ‘fall of the wall’. Works in which we clearly see an extreme versatility of technique and language, a mixture and fusion of styles, passions, visions and ideals, whatever the content or type of investigation. With traits, colours, materials, geometries, in some (happy) cases the poetic word, the authors of this new Imago Mundi collection together form a collective mosaic that is the expression of a dizzying freedom of thought. Of a willingness to go against the wind.  Of an irrepressible need for expression. In the new Czechia, as in Kafka’s 1900s, the artist is (often) still someone who cannot resist being just that.

Mirabilia in Czech Land. Contemporary Artists from Czech Republic is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
