2016. An Image of Ireland - Imago Mundi
Contemporary Artists from Ireland
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection
Texts by Luciano Benetton, Ciara Gibbons, Seán Kissane
Myth, utopia, beauty. But also commitment and an acute exploration of reality. A collection that is, above all, a broad and composite, speculative mosaic which reflects the correlations and contradictions of our time. 140 works in which today’s Ireland is revealed in the work of its visual artists: established names present in the most important international exhibition spaces, together with young emerging talents. Art flows instinctively in the veins of Irish society, fuelled by a proud identity and the memory of an ancient and flourishing tradition, but also by a sincere and creative openness and by a new, exciting and industrious dynamism.
2016. An Image of Ireland. Contemporary Artists from Ireland is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
