A courageous and important collection because it shows how Palestinian art and culture -that blend of belonging that it is the profound freedom of every people for it constitutes their identity and memory- are alive and generating energy, creativity and innovation. 140 works by established artists and young talents, women and men who live and create in the West Bank, in Gaza, in the occupied territories, but also by those who long ago were forced into exile. A collection that offers Palestinian artists the opportunity to reflect on their identity, as the curator Faten Nastas Mitwasi notes, “inviting them to unite under that one nation called “Palestine”. What we seemingly cannot materialize on the ground can be achieved through art..”

Palestine. Contemporary Art from within and beyond the border is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
