Contemporary Artists from Mexico
Imago Mundi - Luciano Benetton Collection

Texts by Luciano Benetton, Ariadna Ramonetti Liceaga, Bárbara Perea, Iñaki Herranz, Octavio Avendaño Trujillo

Modernity and social imbalance, great riches and the difficulties of life: more than 200 Mexican artists reproduce the vision of a country and its creativity on the Imago Mundi canvasses. A plurality of viewpoints which, together, show innovation, vitality and revolt, and which bring positive glimmers for the future of Mexican expressive culture, for some years now a reference point for contemporary art thanks to the dynamism of its artists, collectors, private foundations and museums. Contemporary visual echoes that describe a reliable mapping of the contemporary Mexican scene, reflecting, in metaphorical or allusive terms, the violence that characterizes the current reality of the country, to which art  – as always – vigorously juxtaposes beauty.

Mexico: The Future is Unwritten. Contemporary Artists from Mexico is an Imago Mundi collection, a cultural, democratic, global, non-profit project, promoted by Luciano Benetton with the aim of creating the widest possible mapping of the different contemporary artistic experiences of our world. In Imago Mundi, each country is represented by the works of established artists and new talents, commissioned with the maximum freedom of expression, whose only constraint is the 10x12 cm format.
